We are happy to launch the website, www.fika-f.com, for presenting FIKA Follow-up (FIKA-F).
The ground-breaking National Workshop on ‘Fundamental Issues in Knowledge and its Acquisition (FIKA)’, held in Aligarh Muslim University in March 2015, started a critique and optimization of contemporary Learning, Sciences and Disciplines, on the basis of plenary Philosophy. FIKA Follow-up comprises of events to feed this long term process.
As FIKA Report says, the Workshop presented and discussed a critique and plan of rectification of contemporary Learning, particularly Modern Science, that would ensure both the carrying- ahead of the science-driven high standard of life, as well as, the solution of the multifarious crises of environment, civilization and Meaning, besetting this process.
The Workshop was attended by faculty members, doctoral scholars and post-graduate students from a wide range of disciplines: Philosophy, Islamic Studies, Psychology, History, Law, English, Education, Mass Communication, Islamic Studies, Unani Medicine, Western Medicine, Physics etc, from many important academic institutions in India.
The Workshop centre-staged the scheme of Integral Reality: Transcendental, Supra-Material and Physical and the corresponding scheme of Integral Learning: Metaphysics, Cosmology and Sciences. It then identified the place of various Disciplines of the Modern and Traditional streams, within these schemes of Reality and Learning, to characterize the strengths and limitations of each discipline, and the transformations needed for maximizing their strengths and redressing the limitations. The conclusions at the Workshop were adopted as Resolutions.
We are sure that despite its novelty and challenging nature, FIKA had the desired impact in launching a basic, crucial and long-term process of critiquing and optimizing existing Learning, Sciences and Disciplines, on the basis of plenary Philosophy. The need for feeding this process from as many corners as possible, including FIKA, prompted us to initiate a long-term follow-up, announced at the Valedictory Function of the Workshop.
We are happy that the follow-up also took life, and with the coming up of FIKA-F website, the means are now available for presenting the events already undertaken, announced or planned to be undertaken.
